Shortly after 4 PM Saturday February 1st, 2025, the Warrington Township Volunteer Fire Company and Warrington Township Police were dispatched to a fire alarm at a business inside of Valley Square Shopping Center. Responders quickly found that the complex was having a widespread electrical power problem. The outage affected all stores on the Easton Rd side, the Valley Square Boulevard side, and the Meridian Complex. Additional fire departments from Warwick and Warminster responded to assist on the incident.
PECO was already on site and reported they had additional crews responding to the scene. Due to the nature of the electrical problem, Fire Department personnel working directly with PECO had to gain access to every store and every building to secure the power while PECO worked on the root cause. We have remained in constant communications with the property management groups of both sections of Valley Square, the Meridian Complex and PECO for the entirety of this event.
The power was restored to the complex by PECO at approximately 12:30 AM. At that time, electrical contractors from each property management group began working to restore power to their respective facilities. As of late morning today, most businesses are back open for business.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this incident and understand the frustration of having such a large complex affected on a weekend evening. We thank all of the property management groups and business owners for working with responders during the incident. We would also like to thank our mutual aid fire departments for handling other fire incidents in Warrington Township during this incident.
