Yesterday afternoon, the crew headed over to Porsche Warrington for some hands-on training with a new device recently purchased by the department. Called an Emergency Plug, the device plugs into the charging port of a variety of electric vehicles. It then sends a signal to the computer of the vehicle, tricking the computer into thinking the vehicle is being charged, which forces the transmission into park. This allows firefighters to safely ensure the vehicle is secured before working to de-energize and work inside the vehicle. A big thank you to our friends at Porsche for allowing us to come over and get some valuable hands-on training with some of their cars!
